PZL-Świdnik demonstrates helicopter technologies at Europoltech 2017

  • Cooperation between PZL-Świdnik, Polish Police and Border Guard commenced in1995 with the delivery of 4 PZL Kania helicopters
  • Presently the services subordinated to the Ministry of Interior and Administration (MSWiA) use 14 machines manufactured by PZL-Świdnik, including Mi-2, PZL Kania and PZL W-3/W-3A Sokół rotorcraft.

Gdańsk, 26th-28th April 2017 – PZL-Świdnik, a helicopter producer being part of Leonardo Group, is pleased to inform that it takes part in the International Fair of Technology and Equipment for the Police and National Security Services Europoltech, which is the most important fair event in Poland dedicated to national security services and special services.

During Europoltech, PZL-Świdnik will present products used so far by the Polish Police and Border Guard, as well as a wide range of state-of-the-art helicopters, which can successfully deploy the tasks of Polish national security formations in the future.

PZL-Świdnik is a reliable partner of Polish uniformed services, boasting many years of fruitful cooperation with the Polish Ministry of Interior and Administration initiated back in 1995 with the delivery of 4 PZL Kania helicopters for the Polish Police and Border Guard. Presently, those formations use 14 helicopters manufactured by PZL-Świdnik, including 3 types of machines, i.e. Mi-2, PZL Kania and PZL W-3/W-3A Sokół. During their many years in service those designs have proven to be highly effective, reliable and uncomplicated in operation machines, capable of deployment of police and state border protection missions. Owing to their flexible and multirole nature, they perform a full spectrum of tasks set before helicopters of national security aviation services, from SAR missions to operational missions using on-board surveillance devices.

Moreover, Europoltech provides an opportunity to demonstrate state-of-the art rotorcraft of Leonardo Helicopters, in the manufacturing of which PZL-Świdnik is involved and which may provide a perfect response to the demands from the Polish Police and Border Guard for national security-keeping machines in the future. This concerns AW109 GrandNew and AW169, which - by offering excellent performance to users and meeting the most recent safety standards - are perfectly matched to deployment of uniformed services missions.

The W-3A Sokol is an intermediate twin engine helicopter with a maximum take-off weight of
6,400 kg and is capable of carrying up to 14 people, as well as cargo. It provides a multirole platform capable of performing a wide range of roles including among others law enforcement, passenger and soldier transport, medical rescue, as well as SAR and fire-fighting missions. For years Sokół has been used by the Polish Police and Border Guard for deployment of a wide range of tasks, including intelligence, surveillance, patrolling and intervention missions. Excellent capabilities of Sokół were also recognised by Ugandan Police Forces. By now almost 180 Sokół rotorcraft have been delivered to more than 20 clients in over 10 countries.

The AW109 and Grand/GrandNew series of helicopters have proven extremely successful in the global light twin market for law enforcement and public service duties offering outstanding performance (fastest aircraft in this weight category), large cabin, high safety standards and dedicated mission capabilities. A number of law enforcement, border/coast guard and homeland security customers have chosen Leonardo’s light twins in many nations also including Italy, USA, UK, Japan, China, Brazil, Bulgaria, Uganda, Oman, Latvia, Slovenia and Chile.

A versatile, new generation twin engine light intermediate category helicopter, the 4.8 tonne AW169 has been designed in response to the growing market demand for an aircraft that delivers high performance, meets all the latest safety standards and has multi-role capabilities. The AW169 incorporates several new technology features in the rotor system, engines, avionics, transmission and electric power generation and distribution systems. Its versatility, cabin space, technology and safety levels make it the perfect fit to law enforcement needs in the light-intermediate category.
