Leonardo: PZL-Świdnik recognised with Forbes Diamond 2019 ranking for financial performance

Leonardo is pleased to announce that PZL-Świdnik, responsible for its helicopter industrial operations in Poland, has been recognised in the Forbes’ Diamonds 2019 ranking. PZL-Świdnik was one among more than thirty distinguished entities from the Lublin region to be included, out of which it had the highest net profit in 2017 of PLN 132.06 million.
The results of PZL-Świdnik contribute to the very good 2018 financial results of Leonardo’s helicopter division, which exceeded expectations and made Leonardo the world’s leading helicopter manufacturer in the civil market in terms of value with a 40% share last year. The results are consistent with the main objectives set out in Leonardo’s Industrial Plan.
Recognition in the prestigious “Forbes’ Diamonds” ranking confirms the already well-established position of PZL-Świdnik in Leonardo’s industrial base and its contribution to the development of the Lublin province. As one of the largest businesses in the region, PZL-Świdnik is a major contributor to the prosperity of the Lublin Region and strives to make the best use of its human, scientific and technological potential so it can favorably support the development of Poland. Core to its industrial presence in Poland, Leonardo considers PZL-Świdnik an essential element to further growth of its role in one of its home markets and to provide an even stronger contribution to the nation.
The company is a key partner of the Polish Ministry of National Defense, delivering the most important helicopter programmes. Currently, PZL-Świdnik is also involved in the maritime helicopter procurement process for which it is offering the most advanced naval helicopter, the AW101, which is successfully serving many NATO armed forces. Furthermore, should the AW249 helicopter be selected for the new Polish combat helicopter requirement, Poland would benefit from unique industrial advantages of the full involvement of PZL-Świdnik and the Polish industry in a new generation programme.
The summary of the fastest growing Polish companies, i.e. the so-called "Forbes’ Diamonds” has been prepared for the 12th time by the economic monthly “Forbes” in cooperation with Bisnode Polska. The ranking is based on an analysis of data from financial statements submitted to the National Court Registry in 2013 - 2017. Analysts have prepared the summary taking into account the value of property owned by the companies and their profits from the recent years.
The awarded companies are divided into three categories according to sales revenues in the last financial year: small-sized companies with sales revenues ranging from PLN 5 to 50 million; medium-sized companies with sale revenues of PLN 50 to 250 million; large-sized companies with sale revenues above PLN 250 million. PZL Swidnik has been distinguished in the latter category and reached the highest net profit in 2017 of PLN 132.06 million.
Companies listed in the "Forbes’ Diamonds” ranking represent the top Polish businesses. With publication of this summary, editors of the monthly magazine become recognise that cooperation with the Diamonds is safe, because they are trustworthy, solid, professional partners which skillfully and effectively use trends to gain value.

PZL-Świdnik is the only manufacturer of helicopters of Polish design, having the full capability to design, research, develop complete helicopters, as well as perform systems integration and production. Once in service PZL-Świdnik provides support and training services, upgrades and modernisation of the rotorcraft. PZL-Świdnik has been pursuing aviation manufacturing activities uninterrupted for almost 70 years. Owing to PZL-Świdnik Poland is one of only five European states which can boast the indigenous capability to design, manufacture, develop and support helicopters.
PZL-Świdnik has approximately 3000 employees, including almost 650 engineers, and cooperates with almost 1000 Polish enterprises, generating 4500 additional jobs in the Polish economy. The biggest group of said companies is made up of partners from south-eastern Poland, including members of the biggest Polish aviation cluster, namely the Aviation Valley, and of the Lublin Cluster of Advanced Aviation Technologies. PZL-Świdnik is one of the biggest employers and taxpayers in Lublin region. So far PZL-Świdnik has produced and delivered over 7400 helicopters to customers in more than 40 countries worldwide. PZL-Świdnik is a key partner of the Polish Ministry of National Defence delivering the most important helicopter programmes for the Polish Armed Forces – almost 160 helicopters manufactured by PZL-Świdnik are in the service with the Polish Armed Forces.
