Leonardo-Finmeccanica: PZL-Świdnik demonstrates W-3PL Głuszec helicopter at the International Exhibition - AIR FAIR 2016 in Bydgoszcz


Bydgoszcz, 20 may 2016 – PZL-Świdnik, a company owned by Leonardo-Finmeccanica, is pleased to inform that it participated in the 10th edition of the International Exhibition - AIR FAIR 2016, organised by the Military Aviation Works No. 2 in Bydgoszcz, by demonstrating its flagship product - W-3PL Głuszec helicopter – being in daily service of the 56th Air Base in Inowrocław.

W-3PL Głuszec helicopter is a result of close cooperation between PZL-Świdnik, Polish Armed Forces and the Air Force Institute of technology, and it is currently used by the Polish Land Forces. Głuszec is the newest version of proven Sokół helicopter modernised to meet combat support standards. The helicopter is provided with state-of-the-art avionics and equipment allowing it to fulfil a wide range of missions with top-class efficiency and reliability. Various armament systems can be installed on Głuszec to improve the combat potential of the Polish Army.

- Głuszec is one of the most important programmes performed in PZL-Świdnik and we set high hopes on the rotorcraft. This is a cost-effective and proven solution, which is likely to improve significantly the combat capacities of the Polish Armed Forces. After years of intensive works jointly with the Polish Army and Polish R&D sector, we have a mature and proven helicopter today, said Krzysztof Krystowski, Vice President, Leonardo Helicopters, Polish Government Business Unit.

The 10th edition of the International Exhibition - AIR FAIR Bydgoszcz was held on 20-21 May this year. In line with the tradition, the first day was dedicated to tightening of business relations between exhibitors-defence industry companies and their potential clients. The second day was open to public at large. The exhibition aims to consolidate the aviation community, both military and civil one. Every year the exhibition is visited, among others, by representatives of the Ministry of National Defence, the Polish General Staff, and of the Inspectorate for Armed Forces Support.
